The Eat-Badly-Plate Debate

This article is dedicated to Becky and anyone else attending Eatbadly classes who needs some ammunition! If anyone starts talking to you about 5-a-day and the importance of fruit in the diet – here are two ‘real food’ super products (liver and eggs) up against two typical sources of 5-a-day – an apple and a glass of juice. There are 13 vitamins in total: A, B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B12, Biotin, Folic Acid, C, D, E and K. The fat soluble vitamins are A, D, E and K and – as the name suggests – they need to be delivered in/with fats for their absorption. The best sources of these vitamins are animals and their by products – meat, fish (especially cod liver oil), eggs and butter/cheese is a good source of Vitamin A.
