Hi Zoe. I have read that eating protein in excess can be harmful and causes a rise in insulin, so to prevent this we should only be consuming 1 gram of protein per kg of body weight per day. For someone weighing 60kg they would need 60g of protein a day - equivalent to 260g of meat/fish/eggs per day (100 grams of meat/eggs/fish contains around 23% protein). 60% of our daily calories should come from fats. Do you agree that eating protein in unlimited amounts is not healthy in the long term, and may actually result in weight plateauing or even weight gain? And should we be looking to get most of our energy from a higher fat intake instead?
