Protein – How much do we really need?

Lots of people ask about protein – am I getting enough? Should I be having more? The Harcombe Diet doesn’t talk much about protein as virtually all foods are carb/proteins or fat/proteins, so we just drop the word protein. Here’s the low down on protein for those of you who’d like to know… 1. Protein is in practically everything. When we hear the word protein, we think of foods like eggs and fish, but protein is, in fact, in virtually every food we eat. The exceptions are pure fats and pure carbs. So, olive oil is 100% fat – no carbs or protein and, at the other extreme of health, sugar (sucrose) is 100% carb – no fat or protein. This is why The Harcombe Diet talks about just carbs and fats, as 99.9% of foods are either carb/proteins or fat/proteins, so we can just drop the word protein.
